HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, LABRADOR, October 21, 2019 – Nunacor is today celebrating the 15th anniversary of the NunatuKavut Business Centre. The centre is a one-stop shop for NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) members seeking to start or grow their business. It has served hundreds of clients and invested over $750,000 in NunatuKavut entrepreneurs over its 15 years of operation.
Nunacor is also introducing new branding to feature the business centre’s six areas of focus. They are:
- Business counselling
- Funding programs
- NunatuKavut Business Registry
- Supplier development
- Entrepreneurial training
- Networking opportunities
The anniversary of the business centre also coincides with the start of Small Business Week. To celebrate, Nunacor is hosting events in two locations. The first one is happening today at 10:00 a.m. at Nunacor’s office in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The second is at 10:00 a.m. on October 25 at the Nunacor office in Mary’s Harbour.

- Long-term funding support for the NunatuKavut Business Centre comes from NunatuKavut Community Council, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and recently from the provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation.
- Nunacor is a diversified and growing Indigenous operation in Labrador with five subsidiary companies operating in a broad range of industries. It is the business development arm of the NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC).
- NCC is the representative governing body for approximately 6,000 Inuit of NunatuKavut. NunatuKavut means “Our Ancient Land” in Inuttitut.
