For Immediate Release – July 23, 2012
Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL Nunacor and CleanEarth Technologies announce the signing of an Alliance Agreement whereby the parties will work together to seek out environmental contracting and remediation service opportunities within the Labrador region. It is the first time Nunacor has partnered with a remediation company, and this alliance gives Nunacor a competitive edge in a growing industry.
Nunacor and CleanEarth Technologies will carry out their best efforts to provide training and employment opportunities for members of the NunatuKavut Community Council (“NCC”), thereby encouraging and assisting with the development and growth of privately-owned Inuit and Nunacor businesses. In addition, CleanEarth Technologies will work towards maximizing the employment of available and qualified NCC members.
Through an alliance with CleanEarth Technologies, Nunacor will develop capacity and skill sets within the environmental and remediation services industry. Furthermore, the alliance is providing Nunacor, NCC and CleanEarth Technologies with revenue-generating and growth opportunities.
“We are honoured to be an Alliance partner with Nunacor Development Corporation. By leveraging the strengths of the two companies, and the NunatuKavut Community, the CleanEarth/Nunacor Alliance will be able to provide one-of-a-kind, cost-effective solutions to complex contaminated sites and water issues facing both industry and government, and make an immediate positive impact on the natural environment and the lives of people in Labrador.” says Bruce Tucker, President of CleanEarth Technologies.
“We are very pleased to join with CleanEarth Technologies to increase our business capacity and capitalize on business opportunities within our region,” says Andy Turnbull, General Manager of Nunacor.
NCC President, Todd Russell says he is pleased to have worked on bringing these two companies together. “The agreement is in line with NunatuKavut’s principals of environmental stewardship, as well as the need for NunatuKavut members to participate in meaningful economic opportunities in our region.” President Russell adds, “Development activities abound in Labrador with new mining projects and ongoing remediation work at Five-Wing Goose Bay, to name a few. There continues to be a growing demand for Indigenous business partnerships and skilled workers, and this is a step in the right direction.”
