Bar Manager – Mamattuk Restaurant

We are seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our team as a Bar Manager for our new restaurant; Mamattuk, located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.

Mamattuk will be extremely dynamic in its offerings, serving guests as a restaurant, coffee bar, and lounge throughout the day, celebrating Labrador with elevated comfort food featuring local ingredients.

Located next to Royal Inn + Suites, Mamattuk will be a warm and inclusive social hub with an engaging and energizing atmosphere. Pulling inspiration from the land, people, and cultures, the restaurant will combine local charm and world-class hospitality.

The Bar Manager of Mamattuk is designed to give the General Manager support while also ensuring bar operations and beverage menus are maintained to exceptional standards. The Bar Manager is responsible for the smooth execution and organization of all bars day-to-day operations as well as maintaining and improving financial responsibilities such as labour and beverage-related costs.

Bar Manager Key Roles:

  • To lead, inspire and motivate the team
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic and demonstrate a genuine positive demeanor throughout the shift
  • Manage and oversee the beverage operations through action with a presence on the floor during service periods.
  • Create and build guest relationships with a presence on the floor and behind the bar with table touches and engaging guest interaction
  • Ensure every guest receives the best Mamattuk guest experience and leaves eager to return
  • Be a role model for guest service; by demonstrating efficiencies in execution, ability to recognize regulars, and proficient handling of guest concerns
  • Creation and execution of an exceptional Mamattuk beverage program
  • Beverage and non-consumable inventories are being conducted and analyzed to identify variances
  • Fiscal responsibility of reporting, analyzing, and improving beverage costs
  • Maintain standards of execution through proper use of all daily checklists, pre shifts, reporting tools, and ongoing coaching
  • Be professional and hospitable while promoting the company brand
  • Ability to organize people and provide clear and timely direction
  • Work with GM to create an environment that is inclusive, diverse, and respectful

Bar Manager Competencies:

  • Passion for Guest Experience: provides engaging guest service and builds relationships with guests to set the standard for employees
  • Time Management: effectively manages time to achieve business goals while satisfying the guest service needs
  • Communication: Provides clean, open, and consistent communication with the guests and staff. Actively listens and receives feedback.
  • Problem solving: Responsive, calm, creative, and flexible to ensure operations continue to run smoothly in the face of the unexpected.
  • Proactive Planning: manage and maintain appropriate inventory levels for food, beverage, and operational supplies.
  • Business awareness: Understands inventory management and how to impact beverage cost.

Education and Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a full-service environment
  • Minimum 1-year experience at the supervisor or management level
  • Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25+lbs., must be able to stoop and bend
  • Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: POS, inventory software, excel and word
  • Serve Responsible Newfoundland & Labrador and W.H.M.I.S. Certified
  • Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
